Yes. The app is free forever for SA doctors who sign up as founding users: the complete app at no charge, with no card and nothing to cancel. There is no catch. Two optional paid add-ons exist on top: AI Scribe (R299/month for 400 recorded consultations a month, or Pro at R599/month for 800 — consultation recording, structured notes, document drafts, and AI Research: what medical sources say about your patient, with references) and, once accreditation completes, fully paperless AES e-scripts (R249/month, an accredited Advanced Electronic Signature service with real per-signature costs). An add-on is only ever a new optional capability, never a paywall in front of what founding users already have.

The AI Scribe (an optional add-on, R299/month, available now) records a consultation with the patient’s knowledge and consent and drafts the note, referral or discharge summary for you. It drafts, but it never decides: every draft must be reviewed and signed by you before it becomes part of any record, and it makes no diagnoses. The subscription includes up to 400 recorded consultations a month (about 18 every working day); camera scans and document drafts don’t count toward that allowance, and the app shows a live counter of what you’ve used. High-volume practices can take AI Scribe Pro (R599/month) for 800 recorded consultations. One subscription covers one prescriber, and now includes AI Research (see the next question). AI Research is included in the AI Scribe subscription (and the free trial — 20 questions, no card). Open a patient in the app, choose which documents the AI may read — they are de-identified on your phone before anything is sent — and ask a clinical question, or tap a suggested one: differential, investigations, management, pathophysiology, red flags or medicines. The AI searches medical sources, South African guidelines first, and shows you what they say, with the actual references as tappable cards you can open and read yourself. It is a clinical reference tool, not advice: it never diagnoses and never prescribes — the treating practitioner makes every clinical decision. The subscription includes 500 questions a month (Pro: 1,500), and one tap saves a short summary of what the sources said, with the references, into the patient’s notes.

Yes. Practice teams are free for every practice. Share selected patients, consult notes and structured handovers with the colleagues you choose, end-to-end encrypted so that only your team can read them (not even PracProof can). Open Account → Practice in the app to set yours up.

Yes, and their accounts are free. Staff sign up in the app as practice staff (no HPCSA number needed) and join your practice with an invite code. Reception registers patients and books the diary, the nurse charts vitals on the clerking form, and the dispensary marks medicines dispensed and captures cash or medical aid, all on one shared flow board that every phone in the practice sees. Staff never see your consult notes, and prescriptions stay hidden from them unless you switch on read-only printing for the dispensary. The day list adds patient counts, cash totals and waiting times, exportable as CSV or PDF, plus a Section 22C dispensing register for licensed dispensing practices.

The add-on unlocks in the phone app automatically within a minute — nothing to type. The check runs entirely on your device and shows exactly what the doctor signed: the prescriber’s details, the patient’s name as printed on the document, the dates and the document summary. It never shows a diagnosis, ID number or contact details. You see nothing that isn’t already on the paper in front of you.

Yes, provided the invoice carries the details schemes require: the practice number, the treating doctor’s details, an ICD-10 code and tariff code per line, and proof of payment. PracProof generates exactly that: an itemised, claim-back-ready invoice that becomes a combined invoice-plus-receipt the moment you mark it paid, with a QR code so the amount can be verified as unaltered. Claims must reach the scheme within 4 months of the service date.

Yes. The chronic authorisation kit builds the letter for you. Pick the patient, condition and medicine: the app recognises Chronic Disease List (PMB) conditions from the ICD-10 code, prompts for the test values schemes ask for, structures the treatment-history evidence, and cites the scheme’s own obligations under the Medical Schemes Act (Regulations 8 and 15I). You also get a call card with every detail the scheme’s chronic line asks for (at most schemes a doctor or pharmacist can register the condition in one phone call), and the tariff code for the paperwork is one tap away on your invoice. The scheme’s clinical team still makes the funding decision.
